At St. Francis Hands Foundation, we believe that blessings are not meant to be kept — they are meant to be shared. And when blessings are shared steadily over time, something remarkable begins to happen: lives start to change.

Meet Esperanza Rodríguez, a 69-year-old mother from El Palmar de Herrera. Thirty-six years ago, she endured the heartbreaking loss of her three-month-old baby. The postpartum depression that followed left lasting effects on her health. With quiet courage she raised three daughters, yet daily life remains challenging. Because of her limited strength, her eldest daughter gently helps her bathe, and at night prescribed medication helps her rest.
Each day, she depends on the care of a relative who assists her with the most basic needs. Her situation is fragile, and her family struggles to afford food, clothing, diapers, and even disposable bed covers to keep her comfortable and safe.
When we first learned of Esperanza’s needs, we were able to respond with essential items gathered from parishioners and friends in New York. But what truly matters is not just one shipment — it is the steady, ongoing care.
Month after month, through your generosity, Margarita continues to receive the essentials she needs.
In the photo below, you’ll see her with her caregiver, relieved by a delivery of clothing and hygiene items.
In another, she receives diapers and bed covers, vital for her daily health and dignity.

In the last, her subtle smile shows gratitude — a quiet reminder that steady blessings become steady hope.

This is the power of consistency. A single act of kindness eases a moment, but steady love and steady giving create real change. With your help, we can continue to ensure that Esperanza — and many others like her — are not forgotten, but cherished as children of God, each carrying the image of Christ.
Together, we are the hands of mercy, bringing Perfect Joy in the spirit of St. Francis.
